Time in nature means slowing down outdoors with your senses awake: walking, sitting, listening and noticing, with no goal and nowhere to be. It is at the heart of every EnerCHI retreat, because open sky, fresh air and natural rhythms are some of the simplest reminders to the body that it is safe to relax.
Availability: EnerCHI no longer offers in-office clinical sessions. It has evolved into a retreat-only, concierge-style experience. This page is informational. About the retreats.
Why nature helps
In a 2019 study of nearly 20,000 adults in England, people who spent at least two hours a week in nature were more likely to report good health and well-being than people who spent none. The study shows an association rather than proof of cause, but it matches what many people feel the moment they step outside.
What mindful time outdoors looks like
- Walk slowly. Slower than feels natural, noticing each step.
- Use your senses. Name five things you can see, four you can hear, three you can feel.
- Watch the sky. Clouds, sunrise and sunset are a natural invitation to slow down.
- Put the phone away. Even for twenty minutes.
- Breathe with it. Pair a long, slow exhale with the view in front of you.
Nature in the Arizona desert
The desert has its own quiet beauty: wide skies, saguaros, mountain silhouettes and some of the most beautiful sunrises and sunsets anywhere. The cooler months are an especially comfortable time to be outside.
